I’m sure I have some friends in The Hague (and surrounding areas) …now I just have to meet them! My name is Michelle and I am looking for other people to perhaps call (get ready, this is a huge concept!) friends. I am working in Den Haag and though I like my job, I can’t help but feel a little homesick. I still talk to my friends and know that they will always be there, however, they are 4,000 miles away and grabbing them for a drink or just an easy night out is not so easy. Is anyone else feeling the homesick blues and would just like to meet up with other people? I have tried to join some social meetup groups but I find them more work and less enjoyable. I don’t need a phonebook filled with acquaintances, I am more after a group of fun loving people that just want to have a good time and relax. Of course hanging out for a beer (or dry red wine) would not make anyone instant friends, but doesn’t it help to know you have someone to call…or who might even call you.
Hope to hear back from someone soon!

There is an expat group you could join called legal aliens

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/legal_aliens/

They have all sorts of stuff going on, it's a loose social network with several hundred expats living in the hague, rotterdam etc. Dinners, pub evenings, walks, even trips abroad etc are organized by whomever feels like organizing it.

There's a group of expats and usually they get together in Amsterdam. The website is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/youngexpats

I live in Leiden so it's not so far from Den Haag.. but I mostly go out in leiden cause I don't know many people in Den Haag. Seems like a good opportunity to get to know each other's cities smile.gif

Hi Michelle,

Sound like a good idea, I've travelled around a bit and only stay in touch with friends by e-mail nowadays it seems, time for drinks! I live in Rotterdam but visit the Hague regularly (know a few places). evreeb@netscape.net

Hi Jamie,
Welcome to Holland. Rotterdam is not too far from The Hague. We should schedule something. We'll see how many people we can arrange for a get together. When are you free? Let me know your email and we can plan something. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hey Jamie,
I do work during the week until 6. If you are free in the evenings then we can plan something once you get back. I'll wait to get your email address before making any plans. I also talked to someone else from this site who is living in Rotterdam. Perhaps we can all meet up somewhere for a drink. Let me know when you are back, til then take care and have a good weekend in Germany.
Talk to you soon.....

Hi Michelle (and my other future Expat buddies)

I completely understand your feelings. I moved to the Hague from California 3 weeks ago, and other than missing the great weather (ahh the days of no coats and sunny skies) I miss having a group of friends. While they my friends at home are amazing they are also 12,000 miles away and as you said, a happy hour invite that come at 3am isn't so happy.

Please count me in for anything you guys organize. I work in the Hague on weekdays!

hey guys,

good to see that u guys are plannin to meet sometime in the Hague! Not many people out here are from this part of NL and thats why I had stopped posting earlier on. We are a group of few international people in the Hague and every weekend, we plan something or the other....either to go out or sometimes, we plan a get together at either one's appartment......We have been here for a few months now so if you need any advise or help....u just need to shout once!!

If you guys are interested for the weekends or dinner, tea/coffee drinks or nightouts (which is nearly not possible in the Hague)....let us know, and we'll get in touch to meet sometime....

Raj ............. xx

Hey Lxyz, j-star, dynamic_raj, and marta 9k (and of course anyone else reading this!) rolleyes.gif
Just wanted to get back on here and try again... I have not been on the site for some time now as I was back in the States dealing with family matters for over two months. huh.gif
Anyway, I see some people have responded and just wanted to let you know that I was still interested in meeting up and making some new friends.
I look forward to hearing back from you soon! wink.gif
