Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me. I am 4.5 months pregnant and have arrived in Brussels. I have no idea what to do inorder to get antenatal care here. I am due a scan in 3 weeks time and have no idea how to organise this. Can anyone help me with the following: How do I register with a hospital/midwife etc? Is there a good hospital someone could recomend, I am in the centre of Brussles. I have been told I may need to pay around 25% for everything including delivery, does anyone know approximatley how much this would be? I would be most grateful for any information, I am worried sick about what is going to happen. Thank, |

Hi there,
Congrats on the baby! You may want to contact the embassy for a list of english speaking doctors etc. It's been five years since I had my last baby and if I remember right the hospital bill was about 2000 euro. The doctors visits were about 40 euro per visit. Again that was five years ago, sorry I don't know how much if any that has changed. The best way is get the list and talk with the doctors offices, they should be able to help you with any questions that you have. Take care and Good Luck! S |

This is a bit of a late response and I hope that you have managed to find the information you need, but have you heard about the Brussels Childbirth Trust - the BCT? They organise 'Having a Baby in Belgium' evenings, run prenatal courses in English and have a strong social network (1200 members). It is run by the members themselves and is not-for-profit. Their website is www.bctbelgium.com.
