Hi everyone!
I've been offered a promising job in Belgium, but am curious how much I will have left after tax....I'd be working for a US company and live in Belgium as a EU passport holder(UK). My prospected salary would be EUro 45K before tax...If anyone could help out with a percentage that would be great!
Thanks in advance~Marc

let's see... if you have about 3300€ gross monthly, you'll get to keep at least 1850€... or somehting like that depending on whether you have kids... income taxes are scandalously high around here (ceiled at 50% from around 2500€ gross on... used to be up to 55%)

I've got to be honest... Belgium is not kind on active people... shops close early, so do banks and postal offices, etc. while income taxes are sky-high.... in effect this place is created to cater to people on benefits.

"created to cater to people on benefits". LOL. I know what you mean. I haven't been working for a few weeks and it's SUCH a change to have time to actually do all the errands that I need to do. It's absolutely lousy how all the shops are closed on weekday evenings and Sundays, leaving Saturday to do all the errands. (Grocery stores are the exception, of course, but even they could open later). I don't want Sunday shopping necessarily, but later opening in the evening would really help.

And what's with the absolute lack of useful stores in the EU Quarter? There are, what, 5 million people working in that area and not a chemist's in sight (unless you count Di in Saint Josse!). Very strange! I don't understand it but there must be some disincentive in effect in Belgium to keep stores from opening. Just about every other city would have loads of shops and services where there is a major concentration of workers.
