Hi there,

I’ll be welcoming a Swedish Au Pair into my home from mid June for the next 12 months. Just wondered if there were any other host parents out there with Au Pairs wanting to link up with a new friend. :?: If so feel free to drop me an email.

I am based nr. Uithoorn so only a bus ride from Amstelveen & Amsterdam.

Additionally do any of you guys know any “making new Au Pair friends” groups which I can recommend for my Au Pair?

Thanks, smile.gif

Hi Carmel,

I simply used the Au-Pair World website (http://www.aupair-world.net). I paid the amount to become a premium member. That way when I found an Au Pair I liked the sound of I could find a way to get in touch with her. You have to chat a little by email and maybe conduct a telephone interview so you can truly find if its a true match for you and your baby. My hubby and I even go as far as subsidising a one day or weekend trip over for the prospective Au Pair so we can meet in person and most importantly see how our daughter reacts.

I hope this helps for now and good luck!

I made an email list for au pairs in Holland. So if your au pair wants to join, just mail me her email adres, place of residence, name and home country.

Is there a listing of Au Pairs wanting to meet-up still in existence? Are there any Au Pairs out there that would welcome a new comer? I am receiving a new Au Pair into our family. She is from Estonia and it would be nice if I could introduce her to some new friends. wink.gif

Can anyone advise?

Thanks,

Louise

Hi Louise,

I have been an au pair before and also from Estonia! It would be nice to show her around and have a chat sometimes. I live in Hoofddorp but often come to Amsterdam, we have a large Estonian community here and I believe you au-pair would like to meet us. I hope you can give her my email address- kuknunn@hotmail.com

Looking forward to your response!
Margi

Hey, I haven't began as an Au-Pair yet, but I can advise that there are several groups on Facebook which might be quite useful in order for your Au-Pair to make friends. If she doesn't have an account, it's easy to make one, but she would need to speak good English. The names of the groups are Au Pairs Holland, Au Pair Netherlands, Au Pair in the Netherlands. Probably the most relevant and live chat groups about. First day I wrote on there someone was kind enough to add me as a friend and answer my questions etc.. although I have not yet arrived to discover whether it is useful with regards to making friends to hang out with. Hope this helps! rolleyes.gif
