Heads UP!

Coming off a sweep a two game, shut-out sweep of hosts Louvain-la-Neuve Phoenix consecutive days to sweep undefeated through their subsection of the LFBBS Challenge, the Brussels Kangaroos have qualified for Belgium Cup (Coupe de Belgique) scheduled for August, and the French-speaking championship scheduled for July.

The Brussels Kangaroos and rival Namur Angels are the only two french-speaking teams in Belgium’s 8-team Division I. The rest of the league are Flemish (dutch-speaking) teams.

For 2007, the B-Roos signed a pair of former D3 stars (2006 grads) from northeast colleges. Pitcher Joe Vladeck from Amherst and 1B/P Tim McLean from Haverford. were all-conference, all region-type D3 players. The K-Roos also feature team veteran and Australian national-level pitcher/outfielder Chris Blackbee.

In 2006, Vladeck was 7-0 with a 1.55ERA, and was named NESCAC Pitcher of the Year in both 2005 and 2006.

All conference and team MVP, McLean posted a 1200+ OPS as a senior, and ranks among the Centennial Conference’s career leaders in Hits, RBI, Runs, HR, Doubles and Total Bases.

League Opening Day for the B-Roos is (next) Saturday April 14th against the current Division I league champions, the (Antwerp) Royal-Greys.

The two teams play again the next day, Sunday April 15 in Brussels.
Make a picnic and bring the family to the K-Roos home opener!
Attendance is free. B-Roos Seniors games start at 15:30.
