My wife and I are moving to Belgium in a few months and we were told to get Vonage so we can call the US. Is aryone on here using it and can you tell me anything about it? If I sign up before I leave, then take it overseas, is it free to make calls back to the US?

I absolutely do not recommend Vonage to anyone. THe service does not work at all. Your system will contiually kick off line and you will constantly have to reset your box. This will happen about once every hour. Vanage service is terrible. They do not care about theeir customer. I begged them for 6 months to disconnect my service and they gave me the run around. THey contiued to steal money from my account even though I asked them to stop the service. I ended up paying over $1000 for a phone service I did not even get to use at all. Vonage is terrible. Don't fall into thier trap!

I use Vonage and it works fairly well for me. I don't talk spend large amounts of time on the phone, I will call around to different family members about once a week. I usually leave my ringer turned off (b/c of the time difference). It is a big convenience just being able to dial the States for no extra fee.

At my old apartment in AMS, my flat mate would spend lots of time nightly talking to his wife in the UK. (Odd that it cost less to call via the US vs calling from just across the channel).

I'm using a 6mb ADSL line.

I heard from several expats to go with Vonage - that it was a must have. We signed up when we were back home and got it set up just fine. Now we are just waiting for our boat shipment to get the transformer so we can get it set up (poor planning!)
