At Beebs' suggestion I'm posting the details of one of the groups I sing with. We are professional singers and baroque instrumentalists and do 2 concerts on the last weekend of every month, so that means the next ones are coming up this weekend!
Our next concerts are: this Saturday 25 November, starting at 20.00 (8pm) in Hilversum, at the Lutherse Kerk, Bergweg 6 (in the Boombergkwartier of Hilversum near the Rosarium) and Sunday 26 November, starting at 15.00 (3pm) in Amsterdam at the Oude Lutherse Kerk, Singel 411, on the other end of that square where Waterstone's is. Get there with tram 1, 2 & 5 (to stop "Spui") or tram 4, 9, 14, 16, 24 & 25 (to stop "Spui/Rokin"). The programme is: J. L. Bach (1677 - 1731) (cousin of the famous Bach) “Mache dich auf, werde Licht” Chr. Graupner (1683 - 1760) “Machet die Tore weit” J. S. Bach (1685 - 1750) (the famous one!) “Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland” BWV 62 Entry is free, with a "pot" at the door for voluntary donation to us on exit. Our website is www.barokensembledeswaen.nl This month's small orchestra consists of : 4 singers, 2 violins, a viola, a cello, a double bass, a baroque flute, 2 baroque oboes, and organ/harpsichord and a lute. Come along and guess which one I am (I will be the only Aussie so am sure you will work it out!) If you can't make it this time then we are on again in December, 30th in Hilversum at 8pm and 31st in Amsterdam at 3pm, and so on every last weekend of every month, with a different programme. There will always be something by the "famous" Bach and some other music by his contemporaries. Really hope some folk can make it! |

OK here are a few things in case you're bored over the next week or so!
1/ Forgot to mention I was singing in the choir for the Kerstmatinee from the Concertgebouw which was on TV and radion today. If you want you can still watch it here: http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=3724259 2/ Tomorrow singing solo in Alkmaar in concert at 15.00 in the Grote Kerk. A nice Christmas programme with the Dutchie also singing, and an organist playing 2 organs (not at the same time!). Details here: http://www.schnitger.nl/index.php?id=118 3/ Next weekend, the next round of cantata concerts with Barok Ensemble de Swaen; details the same as outlined above but for December not November. ie Saturday 30 December, starting 20.00 at the Lutherse Kerk, Bergweg 6, Hilversum and Sunday 31 December starting at 15.00 at the Oude Lutherse Kerk, Singel 411 (corner of the Spui), Amsterdam. Full details here: http://www.barokensembledeswaen.nl That's it for the moment! |
