Could anyone advice whether it is worth buying a laptop in the States? I live in Belgium and have a friend going to the States. So I was wondering are laptops much cheaper there? Do you get VAT refund and how? Also what about the warranty, does it usually cover Europe? And finally what are the good brands? in $1,200-1,800 range.. Many thanx for any opinions!!

Usually the warranty will not cover europe.

If you want to check prices, look at sites such as bestbuy.

You probably will have to pay VAT when it arrives here. Of your friend can try to sneak it thru. Then you can be liable for VAT and penalty. dry.gif
