Hi everyone, I just recently visited Berlin Germany and I loved it, I just wanted to write about what I did there.
The first place we stopped, (I was with my friends,) was the Jewish Museum. The place really was amazing, and I recommend if your going to Berlin you should stop and take a gander at the Jewish Museum. There is a lot culture in there to be learn about the Jews. The second place we stopped was the "Checkpoint Charlie" a famous symbol of the Cold War and the divide between East and West Berlin. That is where we stopped for lunch, hard to find a good restaurant there. Next we were off to the Potsdamer Platz the history of this place was amazing. The square is named after a city to the south west of Berlin and marks the place where the old road from Potsdam intersected Berlin. That ended our first day. Through the rest of the trip we visited Olympic Stadium, the history for it, the current stadium was originally built for the 1936 Summer Olympics on the site of the stadium built for the aborted 1916 Olympics. Well that is what the tour guide said and I also looked it up when I got back. The Berlin Cathedral is what we visited next, the place is very tranquil. Last and the best we visited the Brandenburg Gate, I had only seen pictures of this place before I saw this, the guide told us that the gate was originally commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia in 1788 and served as a symbol of peace. That it is the only remaining gate in the series of gates people used to pass through to enter Berlin. What great culture for you, also I just want to mention that I planned this trip through http://www.ruba.com/guide/Erin/Places_to_see_in_Berlin. So I would recommend that anybody going to Germany, this year stop and see Berlin! |
