Hi Guys,

I am arriving at Amsterdam in a couple of weeks. My office is in the schiphol area.
Please advice which area should I look for an accommodation if I wish to keep the travel time to office as min as possible.

I have been researching quite a bit on this.. (thanks to google map). Per my analysis,
Amstelveen, Aalsmeer & Harleem are closer to the office. Can someone please confirm?

How difficult/easy it to get an accommodation in these areas? Is anyone ready to share the accommodation with me?

Appreciate your help on this.

Regards,
Shankar

Amstelveen, Haarlem, Hoofdorp or Amsterdam Zuid are the areas you should be looking at. If you want to keep your travel time minimum.

You probably have realized that Holland is a small country. Space is very scare in this country. Housing around these areas for 1 bed room could cost you around 1000 Euros a month.

Weblinks - http://www.mielankok.nl/, http://www.tvnsite.nl/index.asp?Language=UK, www.directwonen.nl,

First months if your company is sponsering you. This is a good address - http://www.htel.nl/

Best ways - To contact an agency , if you are looking for an independant place.

Rooms - marktplaats.nl , www.opkamers.nl, www.Kamernet.nl,EasyKamer.nl/, www.opmijnkamer.nl.

Not all the websites are in English. But yeah...welcome to Holland !!

Check whether your company has a contract with a bus company. Companies like Microsoft and Liberty Global (UPC) have (had?) their own buses picking up people from Amsterdam Central Station and drop you off at Radisson hotel on Schiphol.

There may be more lines and pick-up areas.

Hay,

I might be able to help you. I am a real state agent for Amterdam and suroundings. We specialise in renting appartments.

Let me know in case you are still looking for a good appartment for a reasonable price.
