Personally I think we are all exposed to far more 'electro-smog' than we realise...and those kind scientists who gave us these technologies don't even know the extent of the dangers themselves.
http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/he...tos-802602.html Mobile phones 'more dangerous than smoking' Brain expert warns of huge rise in tumours and calls on industry to take immediate steps to reduce radiation By Geoffrey Lean Sunday, 30 March 2008 Mobile phones could kill far more people than smoking or asbestos, a study by an award-winning cancer expert has concluded. He says people should avoid using them wherever possible and that governments and the mobile phone industry must take "immediate steps" to reduce exposure to their radiation. The study, by Dr Vini Khurana, is the most devastating indictment yet published of the health risks. It draws on growing evidence – exclusively reported in the IoS in October – that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer. Cancers take at least a decade to develop, invalidating official safety assurances based on earlier studies which included few, if any, people who had used the phones for that long. Earlier this year, the French government warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children. Germany also advises its people to minimise handset use, and the European Environment Agency has called for exposures to be reduced. Professor Khurana – a top neurosurgeon who has received 14 awards over the past 16 years, has published more than three dozen scientific papers – reviewed more than 100 studies on the effects of mobile phones. He has put the results on a brain surgery website, and a paper based on the research is currently being peer-reviewed for publication in a scientific journal. He admits that mobiles can save lives in emergencies, but concludes that "there is a significant and increasing body of evidence for a link between mobile phone usage and certain brain tumours". He believes this will be "definitively proven" in the next decade. Noting that malignant brain tumours represent "a life-ending diagnosis", he adds: "We are currently experiencing a reactively unchecked and dangerous situation." He fears that "unless the industry and governments take immediate and decisive steps", the incidence of malignant brain tumours and associated death rate will be observed to rise globally within a decade from now, by which time it may be far too late to intervene medically. "It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking," says Professor Khurana, who told the IoS his assessment is partly based on the fact that three billion people now use the phones worldwide, three times as many as smoke. Smoking kills some five million worldwide each year, and exposure to asbestos is responsible for as many deaths in Britain as road accidents. Late last week, the Mobile Operators Association dismissed Khurana's study as "a selective discussion of scientific literature by one individual". It believes he "does not present a balanced analysis" of the published science, and "reaches opposite conclusions to the WHO and more than 30 other independent expert scientific reviews". |

Guess who does not use mobile phones !
Me. I avoid using them at all costs. Dont have any on power in my house. And when my ex-girlfriend gave me her old mobile phone i had it off all the time. Only times i had the phone switched on i had it in 1 big sheet of lead all around it. 2 millimters 20 centimeter lead plate volded around the mobile phone. And it was 10 meters away from my bedroom and chair behind the PC. But it was offline 99,99% of the time. Now it is uncharged and offline for 2-3 years in a cubboard. Of course i knew 6-7 years ago phones were dangerous. Same as microwave ovens. I dont use those either or posses them. Electric magnetic radiation. Just study the life of Tesla and you know the dangers. Many of you all will die due to cancer from electric magnetic radiation. I try avoiding that faith. And how much you say on a mobile phone is really worth saying ? You dont need a mobile phone at all. Unless you have a special job. So turn it off if you wanna live long. |

It hasn't upset my social life in any way (it might be handy - but quite unnecessary really) But Jim,some people need a mobile to extremely urgent calls to ask 'whats for dinner tonight sweetie' or when hubby is in the supermarket 'don't forget the dogfood!' And all this hi-tech gadgetry can make the most stupid of people feel quite clever and important. |

Strangely enough, I fully agree with Jim! I don't use a cell phone either. Yesterday I checked mine and noticed it was uncharged... |

First time I am seeing Jim is taken seriously for atleast one topic.
QUOTE But Jim,some people need a mobile to extremely urgent calls to ask 'whats for dinner tonight sweetie' or when hubby is in the supermarket 'don't forget the dogfood!' Mr. fook so you are the one who's secretly listening to people's conversation? I think that may make you miss your mobile phone provided you have a 'sweetie' at home cooking dinner for you and a dog I think that mobile phones are something that take away your privacy and are unnecessary but then I like when I suddenly get a call in a rather boring meeting and I say "oh its important and I have to take this" and go out to speak for hours As far as health hazard is concerned I am not continuously using it. Cheers, -------------------- When I die India will be found engraved on my heart.

Nicola Tesla had a mobile phone?? That's amazing, I knew he was ahead of his time, but that's just incredible. I wonder who his service provider was? -------------------- |

Well I had one in the UK which I used when I was shown how to use it then lost it. My son got me a cheap one here telling me it would be handy in emergencies (It landed up in a drawer somewhere and years later I found it and it no longer worked). Personally I've never wanted or felt the need to have a mobile. Saying that, if I was back in the UK and was working and had to commute to work, then maybe I would buy a cheap pay as you go thing but only incase of emergencies like the car breaking down or similar, otherwise I'd not use it. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_sensitivity
Some people are very sensitive - I just saw a doc on some people who can't be near wifi stations and have moved to the country and insulated themselves in their homes, free from electricity and waves. Personally, I suspect mobiles are bad for you - people used to think there was no harm from smoking or asbestos. I do believe all this technology is also encouraging ADHD in the newer generation. Sometimes I really do think I'm becoming the "grumpy old man" |

I think people who don't wash regularly should be banned... I never wear suits so I don't mind... -------------------- |

Wouldn't a colour combination of brown and yellow extend there wearability to at least a week? -------------------- "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. ewwwww An old hard-of-hearing man goes with his wife to see the doctor as he's not being feeling too well. The doctor says to him. " In order to ascertain what's wrong, Mr Smith, I need a stool sample, a urine sample and a semen sample." "WHAT DID YOU SAY, DOCTOR?". bellows the old codger. His wife screams in his ear, "The doctor wants a pair of your underpants!". -------------------- "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we.
