Hello all, I am moving to Belgium next month and am trying to figure out my various electronics compatibility over there. I was there for 3 months and tried to get as good of an understanding as possible but would like some validation before I make the plunge.
PS3 - Likely an auto switching power supply, but I am a coward and will plug it into a step up transformer Wii - I will have to buy a replacement power supply off Ebay Computer/Monitor - both auto switching, just need a power cord Z-5500 Computer Speakers running at 110/60 non-auto switching - I will hook this up to a transformer and hope this works, not sure how speakers will respond to running on 50hz though. So can anyone recommend a transformer to me? I am thinking a single 2000W or a couple thousand watters should do the trick. Any brands I should avoid? Thanks, Eric |

I assume you are coming from America since you're currently using 120v 60hz power? While I don't have any recommendations for voltage converters I would suggest you consider selling your game systems and not because of power differences.
Both the Wii and PlayStation are region encoded meaning it will only play games from the region it was purchased. If you bring both your Wii and PS3 you will never be able to purchase a game in Europe and play it on your American (I assume) console forcing you to import every new title you'd like to play. One more thing to consider, I think American game systems all display in NTSC and the TVs in Belgium are PAL. Something in the back of my head says if you're using component (red/green/blue) cables this doesn't matter but I'm not too sure. I'd suggest looking into the issue of video standards but perhaps someone else can chime in and provide some additional info. Goodluck! |
