We are moving to Amsterdam in August and have corresponded with two major rental agencies (Perfect Housing and Parker & Williams) -- both with very little luck, in our opinion. They both said that it is too early to start looking, and they never return our e-mails, even though we will be visiting in about 3 weeks to start viewings! For the commission we would be paying these agents, I expected much better customer service! We thought maybe they are only interested in people who have HUGE budgets (over 1500 Euros), otherwise not sure why they provide such poor service!

Can anyone recommend a GOOD rental agency in Amsterdam? Good = personal customer service, good reputation, on the 'up and up' in terms of renting legal apartments, etc.?

Thanks! smile.gif

p.s. if no luck with the agents, we'll have to go with 'direct letting' ... so would appreciate advice on that route too!

We had good luck with Marc Bergvelt at Amsterdam Beautiful. We also tried working with Perfect Housing but didn't have any success. Good luck finding a place!

What about unfurnished apartments - does anyone have any suggestions for finding these? I've looked through most websites mentioned in the housing section but almost everything is for furnished apartments only.
I have my own furniture so I really need an unfurnished or semi-furnished place to stay.

We ended up having success with JGL real estate. Else just contact the agents directly when searching thru funda.nl.
