What we need to enlist your children are the following documents:

* a letter of your company stating that you will not stay permanently in The Netherlands. The maximum time in an International school in The Netherlands is four years. That means that I need a company letter stating that you will be living temporarily in The Netherlands.
* application forms; these can be found on our web site www.letterland.nl ; >> "admission" >> " enlisting your child".
* a copy of the passports of your children.
* the last school report of the current school of your children or a written statement about their academic progress up till now.
* payment of the administration fee of euro 150,-- (ways of payment can be found on our web site)

We can reserve two places for your children if you can supply us with above mentioned documents. Thank you for your interest in the international department of Letterland and we hope to meet you in September 2008.

the government subsidised international schools in NL are intended for people who are not planning on staying permanently. They usually require that, from the point that you apply for admission, that you are not planning on staying for more than 4 or sometimes 5 years. This does not mean that they will kick your kids out after 4 or 5 years. I know people whose kids have been going to these schools for 9 years now. However, if they ever ask you, you need to let them know that you are not planning on staying for more than another 4 or 5 years.

The letter you are asking about merely needs to say that your employer is planning on keeping you in NL for only X length of time (should not, in your case, be more than 4 years). it is not a promise or guarantee that they will not keep you here, merely that they are not currently planning on it. most companies would be willing to provide this.

To be honest, I am planning to stay in netherlands for long period of time and my employer know that.
Recently, I just asked him to change my offer letter to an indefinite contract. Now how I can ask him again for x lengh of time ?

I just dont know how to provide the requirment of the school for x lengh of time ?
Does anybody have any previuos expereince dealing with this issue ??

when we applied, it was just a question on the application form - how long to you expect to stay in the netherlands? no explanation etc, just the question. i answered 4 years and only later found out that it must be 5 years of less. no substantiating documentation was requested. why not just fill in the paperwok and neglect to send the letter? then phone them a week later and ask them if your application is in order? don't know about the school you're interested in, but the one we go to has huge waiting lists and we were on the list for 3 years and even then, only just got in as we were way down the waiting list. our schools had only 10 places available for two classes (thanks to all others being taken up by siblings of current pupils) and we were originally at position 21 on the list. the sooner you get on the waiting list, the better. personally, i don't know of anyone who had to prove how long they intended to stay in NL - isn't it pretty meaningless anyway?

The 'proper' international schools such as the BSN don't have these restrictions but their fees are much higher. Can recommend the BSN by the way.
