Folks,
I just heard some very alarming stuff from my relocation person: - no, most apartments do not have built-in closets or closets in general - negotiating the price of an apartment is not a common habit in Belgium (other prices neither) - you’ll never find washing machines and dryers in an apartment, but on the other hand as Ghent is also a University city you find all over the place Laundromats Can someone out there please confirm? Thanks! -Swagata |

Most apartments do NOT have built in closets. We have one closet in the entire house, much to my dismay. It's also 1m square and 1.5m high. TINY. - you’ll never find washing machines and dryers in an apartment, but on the other hand as Ghent is also a University city you find all over the place Laundromats Not sure about Ghent, as I'm in Namur, but we have hook-ups for them. We, however, had to buy them ourselves. As for negotiating, my husband says you can negotiate the price of a house/apartment/condo to buy ("But not too much!", he adds). However, I'm not sure about rental apartments. I hope you're doing well in Belgium! Gabrielle |
