Ok, I've been here in Holland 1.5 years and am settled in all areas of life except for a social network. It's time to seek out some friends!

If anybody is interested, please post here with some details about you.

Location: Eindhoven area

Hometown: San Francisco, CA, USA

Interests: Photography, Internet, Music, Europe, Travel

Speak Dutch?: Yes, although nowhere near fluent.

I'd like to organize a get together in either Tilburg, Eindhoven or Den Bosch. If you are interested, post here. Shooting for a date during the upcoming holidays (although, not Koninginnedag). May 1 or May 2?

There is this group http://www.meetin.org/city/MEETinEINDHOVEN/Index.cfm in Eindhoven. Sorry, I have no experience of them, but they seem a very open bunch of people. And they appear to mostly be expats. They have a meet planned for May.

Fugee

If you live in Eindhoven (P.S well done with your football/ sorry... soccer club) then MEET in Eindhoven
could be up your street. Should you reside in Den Bosch area, then HIWC (expat group in Den Bosch)
http://members.lycos.nl/hiwc/ could be of interest?

If you want to go it alone in Tilburg area, then suggest going to local papers and plight with them for free announcement/advert- Many expat groups have formed through this media.

Hi

I am Italian and like you NOT happy about my friends situation in the NL.

I am leaving and working in Eidhoven, I look for girlfriends whith whom enjoy a lunch, a shopping moment or just an intelligent conversation.

I saw your mail on this web - it is my first time - but I said to myself why not try?

Anna

Hi DoeMaar,

I'm keen for this.

I moved here from New Zealand about 6 months ago with my dutch partner, we're living in Breda (she's from up north) and I'm starting to get pissed off with how hard it is to break into the social groups around here. I need some friends!

Will pm you my email and number so you can give me the details.

cheers
Mark

Hi everyone.

Ok, here's my take on things. I don't do so well with HUGE groups of people because I don't feel like I can socialize when there are so many people that you have to compete to talk. wink.gif It seems like we could form a small group here of our own.

Anna, ciao. Io sono Kerry. Io parlo poco italiano mah io parlo e' scrive molto male'! Da dove in Italia?

Mark, I have read your PMs and my apologies that I didn't read this. I see you're from NZ with a Dutch partner.

Would it be possible for anybody who is interested to meet up on 10 or 17 May in Eindhoven for lunch? Say around 13:00. I will bring my Dutch partner. Let me know which day suits you better by posting in this thread. We can firm up plans from there!

Grazie, Anna. Tu sei molto gentile. Dove avete vissuto in Italia?

Saturday (not Sunday) 10 May is good for me, too. Me + my Dutchie. Anybody else?

Anybody have any preference for a restaurant? I'm up for anything BUT Dutch food. wink.gif There's a 'Mexican' restaurant there that's not bad. I hear there is an Italian restaurant that is good by the Pathe bioscoop. What do you like or does it matter?

While you're dining in a Dutch restaurant, having Mexican food with USA, NZ, GB, Italian, etc expats, would you be contemplating on traveling to Hendrik Ido Ambacht on 7th June to witness our 15th Anniversary show ? -It's all in English ! We're just a bunch of daft expats and we're doing what we do for the likes of...... YOU ! (- the 15 Min Hamlet, Private Lives (Noel Coward), Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Young Love & a Talking Head!)

Dear All

I am from Genoa, on the Flowers Riviera.

We like all soort of food so we have no problem with the nationality.

Tell me it's food and I'll eat it. As for the missus, she's learnt to eat my cooking so her standards are pretty low and she'll welcome anything half decent and not burnt. So no, it doesn't matter.

Dear Kerri and Mark,

I am very very sorry but unfortunately I will not be able to meet you on the 10th of Mei.

My family in law has decided to organize one of this tipical dutch verjaardag, exactly on that day, a bit last minute I must say, but I cannot excape from it.

Now I am totally NOT crazy about this parties, but I cannot disappoint my husband - it is his family and we do not see them often after all, so I hope we can reschedule for another lunch or dinner.

You guys please go on and meet as planned, I just want let you know that I am really curious to get to know you and your partners very soon.

Let me know when

Anna

No problem, Anna. Feestjes gebeuren!

I'm still down for May 10 in Eindhoven if you are, Max.

Anybody else is also welcome. I have to choose the restaurant still but haven't forgotten. A bit busy with these holidays coming up.

Hi all,

I've been trying to organise something in Eindhoven over on the Australia forum, however we could never get anything finalised. I would be happy to join you on May 10 if it's still happening.

@Anna: I am also looking for people who like lunch and decent conversation and a little bit of shopping, so maybe we can meet up sometime. Do you live/work near the city?

Cheers,
Nicole
