Beach Tournament

On Saturday 19th April 2008 the Netherlands will brace itself for an event unprecedented in its History. The beautiful coastal scenery will play host to the first ever 7 aside Gaelic football tournament in the country. The event will be hosted on the Scheveningen beach and will be run in conjunction with Tourism Ireland. It will bring teams from the Netherlands and Belgium with Amsterdam GAC, Den Hague GAA, Maastricht GAA and Brussels GAA competing for the illustrious winner’s trophy. The event has been organized by Andy Smith (Westmeath) and Tony Bass (Dublin). Let’s hope it promotes Irish culture and Gaelic games in the Netherlands. Spectators and newcomers to the sport are widely encouraged to come and watch the games.

Amsterdam GAC –Benelux 2nd Round

On Saturday April 26th 2008 Amsterdam GAC hosts the 2nd Round Men's Benelux tournament. With the first round in the Hague having been cancelled it promises to be an exciting opener to the European league. The event will see teams from the Benelux region which includes Amsterdam GAC, Luxembourg GAA, Den Hague GAA, Maastricht GAA and Brussels GAA. It promises to be feast of Gaelic football with last years European champions Luxemburg keen to defend there crown. They face stiff competition as always from a strong and motivated Den Hague team. However Amsterdam GAC will be out to upset the odds with a strong showing. Relative Gaelic football Newcomers Brussels will out to prove a point and Maastricht will want to build on the success of previous tournaments. The tournament has always been a success and visiting teams always enjoy the pleasure of playing Gaelic football in one of Europe’s best cities.
