Can anyone tell me whether an employer has a responsibility to pay for a Dutch course?
I do not have a relevant clause in my contract. However I was asked to take a Dutch course in order to get the job I landed. I paid for and completed the course, did not bring up the payment but want to now claim it back from my employer, (who I now know to be particularly stingy). I use Dutch every day for work, some people insist on speaking English with me including the boss however the majority of my work is in the Dutch language.

you can definately ask if they want to cover the expenses for the study. for them its penny, because the have advantages in taxes since its for educational purposes. good luck!

i learned here not to be shy! you always can ask!
