Hi everyone,
I am wondering if anyone would have tips on how to choose a midwife. I just went to my GP who gave me a list of "verloskundige praktijk". I called one and made an appointment, but what if I don't like her... What questions should I ask her? What I am supposed to expect from her? Thanks for your wise answers, Cheers Ninouke |

For anyone else who's wondering, it's not really rocket science. Just visit them, ask them what their views are on birth, delivery, etc. and if it doesn't feel like a good match, go see someone else.
I switched midwives in my 25th week because she was too conservative for me. Oddly enough, my BP (which worried the initial midwife) went down after I switched and stayed normal for the remainder of the pregnancy, so it was obvious to me that she was not a good match. I was very happy I switched. You want to make sure you are being heard. It's YOUR pregnancy after all and they are there to help you, so stay empowered and don't get pushed around. |
