Apparently, there are moves afoot to close the consular passport office for Brits here in Brussels and to move the whole thing to Paris "to improve efficiency". If you feel this is a bad move, please help by signing the petition online here:
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/brusselspassport/ (cut and paste this address if it doesn't appear as a link) In my humble opinion, this is a very bad idea that can only bode ill for those of us who live here. Apparently, all other consular services will be maintained but they will no longer issue passports, meaning that if you want a new passport or a change made, you'll have to trust the Belgian/French/UK postal services to get your important documents between here and France or the UK. This will inevitably cost more and will more than likely mean extra inconvenience. By the way, the petition is only open to Brits and those non-Brits residing in the UK. |

Yes I signed too, but it closed anyway at the end of March. And of course my passport was stolen in April..... But for the record, I downloaded the forms from the Internet, posted them off to Paris and got my replacement passport within a few weeks. |
