I'm a Canadian girl, doing my Phd at the University of Amsterdam. I first arrived in 2004; after a year here, then a year in Berlin, I've recently returned to the Netherlands. Most of my friends have since gone abroad to work or study, so I'm eager to meet some new people in Amsterdam. The city doesn't feel the same without having friends around... Not looking for any dates, just to meet some new people, have coffee, drinks, etc.

Hi!

Have you checked out www.meetin.org yet? You can find lots of events there that are organized by young expats, there's something new every week and I guess it's a good and uncomplicated way to meet new people! You can register, read about the upcoming events and join the list of participants for the event that you like.

Hi Annete!!
I know exactly what you mean... Amsterdam is such a beutifull city but with no friends to share it...
I'm a portuguese/brazilian doing a master of Anthropology at the VU. So, just like you I really love to meet new people and there are not many things that I like the most then being among friends just chatting, sharing some thoughts and laughs. I also love to know more about other cultures, or I wouldn't be studing anthropology, eheh. So, if you find a good idea let's gather some more people like us and do something social wink.gif

ciao ciao!!

Hi, I am 24, I am not a student anymore but I do miss the lifestyle!
I moved here about 8 months ago from the UK and I have been finding it pretty hard to meet new people so I would definitely be interested in meeting up and getting to know some people who are in the same position.

Just let me know and I am there!

Hi Guys, I'd also like to join you. I'm a 26 year old actually living in Utrecht, but it is easier to meet people in Amsterdam. Thursday would be fine by me :-)

However, as you can see these forums are a bit slow to get responses because you have to remember to check it, etc. I suggest anyone who wants to meet up on Thursday posts their email address here. Then if we haven't got a final plan by Thursday we can finish of organising it by email. So make sure it's one you can check at work :-)

Mine is david <at> david-williams.info

Of course, if people post to say Thursaday is no good we can move it...

Hey there Jorginho!
I saw you were studying anthropology at VU. I'm actually applying to go to VU this upcomming spring to get my masters in geoarchaeology. I was wondering if you had any insight about the University. Is the academic program good? how are the professors. Is the student life good?
any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks for your help!
Mike

Great smile.gif It looks like we can go ahead as there will be at least three of us. I can meet any time after about 6:30. Some food would be nice, so maybe we can go for italian/chinse/whatever and then grab a couple of drinks after. Otherwise we could go straight for a pub that does food. I know of a couple in Rembrandt square, but I don't know Amsterdam that well so suggestions would be welcome smile.gif

Well let's say 7pm then. I suggest 'Cafe de Kroon' simply because it's one of the few places I know and it seemed nice enough last time I was there. You can see the map here:

http://www.channels.nl/pages/625.html

I seem to recall it was next door to Club Escape. My mobile number is 0638 355666

Look forward to meeting you guys tomorrow!

its nice but it was really expensive! I personally like pubs better than cafes. We'll see if anyone else responds with their preferance

Sure, a pub would also be great, but I don't live in Amsterdam so I can't name many places... I think there was one called 'Three Sisters' which was near by? Anyway I don't think 'Tasha.si' gets to check these forums during the day, and I've already emailed her to say we'll meet at De Kroon.

I suggest we stick with that for the meetup, and then we can move on somewhere else for another drink or if we want to grab food?

I just moved into the Netherlands a week ago. Haven't been here the whole week so far since I have been on business trips already go figure. Anyways I don't really know anyone and would like to meet some people. I live in the Edam area but have no issue going into Amsterdam. If anyone would be up for a drink let me know. MDCSKi2@gmail.com

Hi all,

Not sure this thread is still alive! But if so, I would also be interested in meeting some new people here! I moved here from ireland a couple of months ago now, living/working in the centre. If anyone's interested let me know!

Thanks,

Ronan

Hi, I'm new to this site but have come across some interesting forums. I'm just about to start work in Amsterdam and have recently moved to Holland. If any similar get togethers come up I'd love to join in.
