Are there any movie theaters in the Antwerp area (or even anywhere else in Belgium, I am getting desperate) that screen foriegn language films with english subtitles?

It's frustrating that you cannot watch any movie that is not OV = English in Belgium because the major movie theaters force subtitle only in Dutch and French.

Sorry, but I think that's a pretty unreasonable expectation you've got there. Subtitles are generally provided in the language(s) of the country, which in Belgium means French and Dutch. I mean, how likely do you think it would be in, say, New York, to watch a film subtitled in French? I'm just happy that in Belgium they don't dub foreign films the way they do in other countries, like Spain and Germany.

Thanks for the response. I am not expecting the regular Kinepolis/UGC theaters to subtitle movies in anything but Dutch and French.

Maybe my question was not very clear, sorry for the confusion. I was actually enquiring about any small theater that was run/sponsored by english speaking folks (given that there is quite a population of them here in Belgium) for B-rate or foriegn language films. I know the chances are low, but I thought I'd ask. You never know until you do.

BTW, there are movie theaters in the US where movies are subtitled in Spanish, Portuguese etc that are sponsored by members of that community. That's why I asked the question here.

Your question was perfectly clear but c'mon, with a population of 500,000, I can't imagine it would be profitable for a small cinema in Antwerp to screen movies subtitled in anything but the local languages. Ditto for Brussels which has double the population. Brussels, does, however have several small theatres which screen foreign films: Actors Studio, Arenberg Galeries, Vendôme, etc. Guess you'll just have to learn French or Dutch so you can watch foreign films :-)
