I have been having a series of problems with second had bikes, so I decided to buy a new one. My budget is about €100 and in ideal world I would be getting a city bike with three gears for it. However in this world I can not seem to find any bike fitting this criteria. The lowest price I found is about €180.
Does anyone have experience buying a new bike for around €100? Any suggestions for where to look for a bike. Bonus points if the shop is in The Hague region. Thanx |

I saw an ad in the NL20 magazine: http://www.trendonline.nl/ They only seem to have shops in Amsterdam but their prices are good and they deliver.

I see bike shops everywhere in den haag, you just have to shop around.
There is a makro in the area and you can go to the mall, there is bike chain, dont remember their name but they are in the shopping area too. |

Hi, not sure if you are still looking for a cheaper bike, but I bought one recently from Halfords on the Farenheitstraat. It was around 149 Euros but has 6 gears and is brilliant. I can't understand why bikes are so expensive here when everyone has one! |

Hi there.
Did you eventually get your bike for 100 Euro? I recently moved and also need to get a bike for a cheap price and was wondering whats the do's and don't with regards to purchasing one. What should I be looking for in a bike when purchasing. Any advice would be appreciated. I live in Rotterdam by the way .... |

my landlord has many bikes in great condition if I hadn't bought a new one straightaway I would have bought one of his 4 bikes, not new but he keeps them in great condition and I am of the school that older things were built better than the newer ones he is in den haag if you are interested. |

Bikes cost FAR LESS here than in any other Western Country that I've been to ... I agree entirely. It's ridiculous to talk about "expensive "bikes in The Netherlands when one can buy an "Omafiets" for 120-140€! You wont find such a bargain in any other west european country! btw, after buying a bike one should ALWAYS ALSO BUY a good lock or chain to secure it or it will be stolen in minutes... Stealing bikes and/or vandalizing them when they stay outside for longer than an hour, are "national sports" in the Swamp. |

Bikes cost FAR LESS here than in any other Western Country that I've been to ... Omafietsen maybe, but anything more than that is usually pretty expensive, I've found. Certainly more than in Australia anyway. -------------------- |
