Are there any decent Internet providers in Belgium/ Brussels area? I used to pay peanuts for high speed, and now I've got Belgacom (slow, low download limits) and Dommel (positively incompetent customer service, I mean five days to respond to an email?!, and things take twice to three times longer than they claim, like up to a month to turn on an Internet connection).

Any ideas? Or am I condemned to a couple of years with later 90s technology before I move again?

condemned Im afraid......The Belgian corporate and political powers-that-be just don't get this....
At best, all you will get is a classic shrug.

I've been down the exact route you have described here, and further. I even saved the e-mail from Belgacom's customer service department, that told me not to reply or query by e-mail, as its likely no-one will ever even read my e-mail.

And apparently its catching, Clearwire, an American company, started out with reasonable CRM practices, and quickly devolved into the classic Belgo style. I have been waiting for an e-mail reply from them for the last 10 weeks.

Funny, I told Dommel to cancel my service since they weren't providing any, then they tried to send me a bill saying that I still had to pay them.... and the note was one line, unsigned. Talk about a complete and utter waste of time... oh, and they send my password on every bill that they send. Brilliant.

LoL!!!!

My experiences with Belgacom chronicled here:

Oh and the last time I went there after being billed 150E more than normal, I was yelled at and told to come back the next week. Classic farking Belgacom.

Their PR person mailed me back after .....get a hold of this........ 2 weeks!!!
