1. I am an Indian working here for an International IT company in Belgium for last eight months. I would like to know what my status is ? I do not know what my status is? Am I or can I be considered as an expat in terms of "tax" status ?
2. If I am not on "Expat status", how can I obtain/avail the "Expats status" in Belgium ? 3. I heard from a friend that if you work in Europe and leave Europe within 5 years, the social security contribution from your side to the government, will be reimbursed immediately. Is this correct ? Is the duration five years or anything else ? What if I complete 7 or 8 years work in Belgium and then I return to my homeland ? When can I avail the pension benefits ? Is it upon retirement age as per Belgian law ( which is 65 ) or can I encash social security contribution at the time of leaving or how will it be calculated/considered ? I appreciate your sincere advice and genuine responses to clarify above queries/doubts which is puzzling me all the time. Thanks in advance. |

Being an expat or not depends on what kind of contract you have. If it's a local belgian contract, you can be expat status.
You can have your social securite back when you leave the country, but Belgium will charge you a tax on that. |
